FAQs

Is Spravato the same as Ketamine?

1

Spravato is an FDA-approved nasal spray form of esketamine. It differs from IV ketamine in formulation, dosing, and regulatory oversight.

How is Spravato administered?

2

Spravato is administered in-office under medical supervision. Patients are monitored for a minimum of two hours following administration in accordance with REMS requirements.

Is Spravato safe? Will I feel “out of it”?

3

Spravato may cause side effects including dissociation, dizziness, sedation, and increases in blood pressure. These effects are monitored closely and typically resolve before you leave the office. Patients must arrange transportation home following each treatment session.

Can I continue seeing my other providers?

4

What should I do during my appointment?

5

Yes. Spravato is intended to be part of a comprehensive treatment plan, not a replacement for ongoing psychiatric or therapeutic care. We encourage continued follow-up with your prescribing psychiatrist and therapist, and with your consent, we’re happy to coordinate care and share relevant updates to ensure your treatment is safe, consistent, and well-supported..

Many clients find it helpful to engage in calming and restorative activities during this time, such as listening to soothing music or participating in quiet hobbies like drawing or journaling. Others may choose to connect with a trusted friend or participate in an individual therapy session if arranged in advance. It is also common for clients to feel fatigued and benefit from rest or napping.
